Step-by-Step

1. Close all running programs on your computer, specifically Delphi.
2. Go to the techvanguards.com site and follow the link to the OPTk product page.
3. Under the OPTk product page, download OPTk. This will be a zip file and you will need to unzip it after downloading. If you do not have an unzip program, try WinZip from www.winzip.com.
4. Unzip the downloaded file onto a temporary folder on your computer. After unzipping, run Install.exe. Install.exe will guide you through the rest of the installation process.
   
   

   If, for any reason, the installation fails, take the following steps manually. First find out if the installation has copied files to your destination folder. At minimum, the following files are required to exist: OLEDbConst.dcu, OLEDbProv.dcu, OLEDbRowsetData.dcu, OSP.dcu, and OPTkWiz.bpl.  Once you have verified that these files indeed exist, run Delphi and add the OPTk installation path to your IDE's Library path (Tools | Environment Options | Library | Library path). Then manually install the OPTk wizard package (OPTkWiz.bpl) into your IDE (Component | Install Packages | Add). To verify that the OPTk wizard package is properly installed, there should be a new OLE DB tab in the New Items dialog accessible from File | New menu item.

   
   

That's it. After installation, you can start browsing through the documentation by pointing your browser to the OPTk Documentation shortcut installed in your OPTk program group.
